A Case of White Superficial Onychomycosis

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical types of onychomycosis consist of distal subungual onychomycosis, white superficial onychomycosis, proximal subungual onychomycosis and candidal onychomycosis.
White superficial onychomycosis appears as white, sharply outlined areas on the surfaces of toenails. The fingernails are not affected.
Trichophyton mentagrophytes, rarely Trichophyton rubrm, is the causative dermatophytes.
The auther reports a cases of white superficial onychomycosis of the fingernail caused by t. rubrm. (Kor J Dermatol 1994 ; 32(5) : 931~933)
